You know how irritating it is for someone to leave the milk carton almost empty in the fridge when you can might as well just finish it up? It just shows how irresponsible someone can be. Why? Well firstly, the reason is because you think that leaving just a bit of milk will make someone feel good that there`s still milk in the fridge but you`re just being selfish. It`s because you won`t be the one that makes people think you`re the one who finishes up the milk. Secondly, you`re the one who drinks the most milk, leaves a bit of it and don`t have to be the one who buys it next. Thirdly, you obviously won`t be the one disposing the empty carton. That`s what Henry always does and I`ve been living to that almost everyday.
Henry`s my big brother who does pretty well both in sports and in his academics. However, apart from having quite an education and appears to be intellectual, he`s quite fucked up who expects everyone to clean up after him. He doesn`t close the wardrobe doors after looking for his clothes, leaves the newspaper on the floor after reading it, doesn`t take out his dirty clothes from the plastic bag and just dump it in the "dirty laundry" basket and leaves his schoolbags all around the living room as soon as he gets back. Well, nobody`s perfect right? There is one thing though, he thinks he is.
"Dad, have you seen how big or rather fat Jimmy is now?" Henry asked loudly expecting everyone to hear the insulting question while we were all having dinner. Jimmy is just a cousin who just got back from his overseas studies.
"Hey come on. That guy just has an appetite. Nothing wrong with that," I added.
Surprisingly, my dad agreed to whatever Henry had just said and it didn`t seem like a normal family conversation anymore. It was more like two men weirdly bitching about others. I suddenly lost my appetite feeling a bit disappointed with my dad. You see, it`s never funny to pick on someone else`s flaws. Just because you think you`re on top or ahead from all the rest, it gives you the right to be such a snob.
Examinations are almost over and the annual Prom Night was just around the corner. Henry has always been in love with Jenna, the hottest girl in school and also our neighbour. Jenna on the other hand, always has doubts and second thoughts towards Henry even though he`s smart and has the looks. This is probably because of Henry`s stinking character. Henry had asked Jenna a lot of times if she`d go to Prom Night with him but all Jenna answered was, "I`ll think about it. No promises though."
There was this kid in Henry`s school who was physically disabled, Rick. He was the only wheelchair-bound student in the school and sadly, one of the victims of Henry`s laughing stock too. Even though Rick was physically disabled, he was one of the smartest kids and good looking guy in school. That was what that has been bothering Henry. Rick has always been patient with Henry. "Sticks and stones hurt, words don`t," he thought each time he was picked on.
"Hey wheel-boy! I thought people go faster with wheels? How come you`re so pathetically slow?" Henry shouts from across the school hall way as he walks towards Rick. Henry then sarcastically offered Rick help but ends up pushing him away from the direction he was going. Henry`s friends just stupidly went along and laughed.
It was after their major examinations and Rick topped the school. Henry wasn`t too happy about it and obviously became jealous. Furthermore, Rick was asked by Jenna if he`d go to Prom Night with her and Rick happily agreed. "This is ridiculous. Fucking bullshit," Henry thought feeling really unhappy about it.
It was Prom Night and all Henry did was sit there with his drink that he had mixed with Vodka which he sneaked in it with. All the other students were having fun dancing along with the music. He can`t help but notice Rick and Jenna happily dancing and having fun. "Oh, you`re so fucking up you crippled ass," Henry thought. He got really annoyed at what he was seeing and immediately got up and flipped the table in front of him. Everyone got startled and stopped whatever they were doing. Even the music stopped causing the atmosphere to be dead silent. Henry rushed towards Rick and pushed him off his wheel chair. He pounced onto Rick who was helpless on the floor and started beating the crap out of Rick. Jenna tried stopping Henry but was pushed away hard by him. The teachers there started rushing in and the students started pulling Henry away but it was no use. Henry was overpowered and really infuriated.
"He`s drunk! He`s drunk!" Rick shouted. He must have smelled the alcohol stench from the Vodka Henry had. Finally, the larger than life P.E. teacher came to the rescue. He pulled Henry by the shirt and broke off the brawl. Henry, being drunk and stupid started crying and ran off.
Henry was so sober he took out the bottle of Vodka he had brought with him and started drinking. He was passing by this dark alley when he saw 3 figures standing ahead of him. He was all alone feeling really depressed and continued walking. As he was walking, he noticed the figures got closer to him until he found out that he was going to be mugged. One of them were holding a swiss army knife. He came back to his senses, threw the Vodka bottle towards muggers and ran as fast as he could. "Why is shit happening to me?" he thought as he was running. He was running out of breath and started becoming weak. He shouted desperately for help but all he could see was 3 huge men chasing after him. He slowed down and one of the muggers was able to take him down and gave him a sleeper hold. He thought he was going to die and started seeing images and flashbacks. He saw how mean and awful he was being to people around him, especially Rick. He blacked out.
"He`s awake! He`s finally awake!" my mother shouted out of relief. Henry woke up to find out that he was in a hospital with both his legs, broken. He was lucky enough someone from a far saw what was going on and immediately called the police. He was even lucky that the muggers only took his wallet and his $1200 watch.
Henry had to be on the wheelchair for quite a while till his legs heal. One day, while Henry was just relaxing on the front porch, he saw Rick who came by to have dinner at Jenna`s place. He pushed himself towards Rick. "Rick... " Henry said and paused. There was an awkward silence. Henry looked at his casted legs and also looking down feeling a bit ashamed of his past doings towards Rick. Rick smiled but at the same time, it seemed like he didn`t expect an apology. Jenna then came out to invite Rick in. Henry looked towards Jenna and back at Rick and continued, "You know what. Forget it. Fuck off!"
