Best Man is a story about three best friends- Adam, Nick and Mark who knew each other back when they were in college and already living their adult lives. Mark is already experiencing fatherhood and is already married to Julie who is actually Adam`s ex girlfriend. Mark and Julie already have a kid name India and are already expecting another one. Nick and Adam have their own successful business which was having their own pornographic website called PleazeYourself.com. However, when Nick decides that he wants to get married, Adam tries his best to stop him from doing so as he wants to save Nick from doing the wrong thing, especially with the wrong woman. Hence, for this exercise or rather blog entry, I`ll be talking about the character, Adam, from the story.
Adam is really petty when it comes to getting the "right" woman. He`s pretty much a perfectionist in when it comes to that particular matter. He knows what he really want in a woman. He would think that everything is going well until the woman he`s dating does something that turns him off. For example, he would start having bad thoughts about the woman he`s dating if she pronounces a word wrongly or not in a way he personally prefers it. Long keep short, he would think that the woman is not right for him if she does even the smallest thing that is not the way he prefers it and starts judging her. He likes to pick the smallest mistake and make a big deal out of it. He`s quite a woman perfectionist. Apart from that, he`s afraid of losing one of his best friends, Nick, to Sandra, whom he`s getting married to. Furthermore, he thinks that Sandra is such a jerk and doesn`t deserve someone like Nick. Hence, as Nick`s best friend, he tries his best to get Nick to realise that Sandra is the wrong woman to get married to before it`s too late. However, Mark told Adam to just let it be as he knows how Adam can be when it comes to women. Mark just wants Nick to be happy. Mark told Adam that nobody`s perfect and Nick has got the best woman he has ever got in his life and doesn`t want Adam to spoil things. But Adam being the way he is, he disagrees and still tries to break off their marriage plans.
In conclusion, Adam`s inner presence tells me that he judges things or rather people from the smallest mistakes and wants certain things to go the way he prefers it to be. Furthermore, he quickly jumps into conclusions. It is because he thought that Charlie (a girl he met along the way and started dating) was cheating on him without even confronting her when he saw her with another guy in her house who was actually her brother. Apart from all his flaws, he`s actually a really loyal and sincere man who knows what`s best for his best friend.
Adam is quite a good looking man who easily gets women to date him but ends up breaking their hearts. He`s no more than 6 feet tall even though he wants to be as he thinks that being 6 feet tall is the perfect height for a man. He`s also living quite a successful live as a business man. While working out at the gym, he met Charlie and grew some personal interest towards her. Being the good looking guy that he is, Charlie was the one who ended up asking him out. He was so good looking that Sandra once kissed him on the lips when Mark was busy talking on the phone. Sandra also claimed that it was such a waste that she met Nick first before Adam.
In conclusion, Adam`s outer presence tells me that he`s a really good looking guy who`s living a really successful life and gets woman easily.
At the end of the story, Nick found out the true colours of Sandra when he caught Sandra stripping naked in front of Adam but knew that Adam had no intentions of betraying their friendship. Adam was actually there to meet up with Nick and have a final try in talking Nick out of his wedding with Sandra. Charlie got pregnant with Adam`s child and Adam thinks that everything was too fast until Mark made him realise that he`s going to be a really good father. It is because Adam was chosen by Mark to be India`s godfather as he knew Adam was doing really well with Mark`s kid. The wedding was cancelled off and Nick knew how much he would regretted if he had really married Sandra.
